Richard Picciuto always regarded teaching as the most noble of all professions. With the end of school terms approaching, it seemed appropriate to post this poem again. It is taken from his first book, Reunion With a Truant Pen.
TEACHERS
In life, a gift that we can give
Is to teach someone the way to live
But how and why to teach this dance
That’s learned too often just by chance
The answer lies within our soul
To teach, a most rewarding role
For as we teach the lessons thus,
The ones who learn the most are us
