Family and friends gathered today in a beautiful park in NC to say farewell to our much-loved Richard Picciuto. His passing from this life on February 24th was a shock to everyone who knew him. He gave so much of himself to family, friends and readers and was generous with both his time and his listening ear. He could always tell a joke, help a friend, write a blog, cheer on his beloved Rangers hockey team or play a winning game of Scrabble at the drop of a hat. His extraordinary memory was admired by everyone who knew him. Literature was his escape from harsh realities–his library was eclectic and extensive.
Most of all, he deeply loved his family and close friends. He had a fitting farewell that was shared by those who truly loved him. His spirit will continue to be present in our lives forever.
